Nawaz Sharif gives PML-N ticket to Munir Iqbal Chanar for NA-168 by-election

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has issued the party ticket to Munir Iqbal Chanar for the upcoming by-election in NA-168 Bahawalpur.

According to a letter of authority issued by the PML-N Secretariat on August 30, 2026, Munir Iqbal son of Malik Muhammad Iqbal has been nominated as the PML-N candidate from NA-168, Bahawalpur District, Punjab.

The letter of authority bears the signature of party president Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and directs the relevant authorities to allocate the PML-N electoral symbol, the “Tiger” to Munir Iqbal Chanar for the by-election.

Late Malik Iqbal Chanar’s son nominated as candidate

Munir Iqbal Chanar is the son of the late Malik Iqbal Chanar whose death resulted in the NA-168 Bahawalpur seat becoming vacant paving the way for the upcoming by-election.

With the issuance of the party ticket, the PML-N has formally announced its candidate for the important by-election.

According to PML-N sources, the party leadership has decided to accelerate organizational activities in Bahawalpur and mobilize the party’s full organizational strength for the election campaign.

Party sources said the PML-N would make extensive preparations to retain NA-168, an important constituency in southern Punjab.
