Neglect of healthcare facilities in Tharparkar district

During an inauguration ceremony for the provision of CBC analyzer machines to Taluka Hospital Kheme Jo Paar in the Dalhi area of Tharparkar, speakers noted the lack of proper diagnostic facilities at basic health facilities in the desert district. They emphasized that inadequate treatment at healthcare units often forces patients to seek treatment at hospitals in Umerkot, Mithi, and other cities, stretching already scarce resources.

Mr. Natho Rahimoon, vice town chairman of Kheme Jo Par, welcomed the provision of CBC analyzer machines at THQ Kheme Jo Par, stating that it would provide free service to local patients, saving them time, money, and energy.

Dr. Ghansham, Medical Superintendent of THQ Kheme Jo Paar, highlighted the challenges of attracting medical professionals to the area due to the lack of private practice opportunities.

Dr. Rahib Ali discussed the impact of AWARE’s initiative to provide CBC analyzer machines to THQ Chhachhro in 2021, which resulted in significant cost savings for local patients. He stressed the importance of improving the healthcare system at the local level to address the challenges faced by Tharparkar residents.

Ali Akbar Rahimoon, a social activist, emphasized the need for continued support for the healthcare system in Tharparkar, praising AWARE’s commitment to the region’s impoverished population.

Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Kunbhar echoed this sentiment, noting that such initiatives would significantly benefit patients and reduce reliance on costly private healthcare services in nearby cities.

Attendees, including Ms. Nusarat Bano, Fateh Ali Rahimoon, Ghulma Rasool, and Mohammad Daim, urged for increased collaboration between the government and NGOs to improve healthcare services in the remote desert region.
