The widow of a Pakistan Navy martyr has transformed personal loss into a story of courage by earning a commission as a naval officer, setting an inspiring example for women across the country.

Alveera Hamza, the wife of martyred Lieutenant Commander Hamza Abid, successfully joined the Pakistan Navy’s Information Technology branch after winning the prestigious Commandant Gold Medal during her training.

Reflecting on her journey, Alveera said the sacrifice of her late husband inspired her to wear the same uniform he once proudly served in. She described standing in that uniform as a deeply emotional and proud moment for both herself and her daughter.

She also shared that her time at the Pakistan Naval Academy strengthened her determination and confidence. Encouraging young women to pursue careers in the armed forces, she said that if she could overcome immense personal challenges while raising a daughter, other women could also step forward to serve the nation.
