Pakistan reaffirms unwavering resolve against terrorism

Pakistan has paid tribute to the victims of terrorism and expressed solidarity with those affected by terrorist violence, reaffirming its commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms.

In a statement issued on the International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism, Foreign Office spokesperson said Pakistan had made unprecedented human and economic sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

The spokesperson said more than 90,000 Pakistanis had lost their lives during the country’s decades-long struggle against terrorism. Pakistan has also suffered economic losses exceeding $150 billion as a result of terrorist violence, the spokesperson added.

According to the Foreign Office, terrorism has now taken on several new forms, with terrorist groups increasingly exploiting technology and cyberspace to advance their activities.

The spokesperson said Pakistan had also become a victim of disinformation, misinformation, hydra-terrorism and extraterritorial killings. These emerging threats, the official added, had made the fight against terrorism increasingly complex.

The Foreign Office spokesperson described 2025 as one of the worst and deadliest years for Pakistan in more than a decade. The spokesperson alleged that the planning, financing and direction of growing terrorist activities in Pakistan were being carried out from across the border.

The official also alleged that certain hostile elements in neighbouring countries were supporting terrorist activities. Terrorists, the spokesperson said, were targeting worshippers, children, women and security personnel without distinction.

Pakistan remains unwavering in its resolve to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, the spokesperson said, adding that the country would continue its efforts to protect its people and national security.

The Foreign Office also reiterated Pakistan’s solidarity with the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The spokesperson said Kashmiris continued to face state repression, enforced disappearances and arbitrary arrests.

According to the spokesperson, the people of Kashmir remain committed to their demand for the right to self-determination in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions.

The Foreign Office also expressed concern over the suffering of the Palestinian people, particularly children, women and the elderly. The spokesperson said Palestinians continued to face serious human rights violations and deprivation of their right to self-determination.

Pakistan called on the international community to extend unconditional support to victims and survivors of terrorism, regardless of their nationality, religion or background.
