Pakistan, Saudi Arabia reaffirm strategic ties

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari held a farewell meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki, and praised his contributions to strengthening the long-standing brotherly and strategic ties between the two countries.

During the meeting, President Zardari expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s continued support for Pakistan and highlighted the importance of the two countries’ enduring friendship and strategic partnership.

The president said Ambassador Al-Malki played an important role in advancing bilateral relations during his tenure, particularly in the political, economic and trade sectors. He also appreciated the ambassador’s efforts to deepen cooperation and strengthen the relationship between Islamabad and Riyadh.

President Zardari noted that the strong foundations established during Al-Malki’s tenure would continue to support and guide bilateral cooperation in the years ahead. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening its close and multifaceted partnership with Saudi Arabia.

Ambassador Al-Malki thanked President Zardari, the government and the people of Pakistan for the warmth, hospitality and cooperation extended to him throughout his tenure.

The Saudi envoy said he would always hold Pakistan and its people in high regard and continue to value the close relationship between the two nations.

According to an official statement, President Zardari also conveyed his best wishes to Ambassador Al-Malki for success in his future responsibilities and expressed hope that the strong Pakistan-Saudi relationship would continue to grow in the years ahead.
