President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have expressed deep sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Venezuela following two powerful earthquakes that have devastated the country. In separate official messages, the Pakistani leadership assured complete solidarity with the victims and their families during this challenging period, expressing confidence that the Venezuelan nation will face the massive tragedy with courage and resilience.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed the sympathies of the Pakistani public, adding that he prays for the rapid recovery of the hundreds of citizens injured in the disaster. Meanwhile, international concern continues to mount, with the US President noting that initial assessments point to a severe crisis and a staggering loss of life. The White House has already directed relevant American institutions to mobilise and deploy immediate international assistance to the affected regions.

The catastrophic double earthquakes, which registered magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, have caused widespread destruction across Venezuela, prompting authorities to declare a national state of emergency. While Venezuela’s acting president has officially confirmed 32 deaths so far, foreign media and disaster response teams report that initial figures are expected to rise sharply, with fears that the total death toll could ultimately surpass 10,000 as search and rescue operations continue.
