Pakistan steps up preparations for ECO ministerial meeting

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar chaired a high-level meeting in Islamabad to review Pakistan’s preparations for the upcoming Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Council of Ministers (COM) meeting, scheduled to be hosted by the country in November.

The meeting examined various aspects of the preparations, including the proposed programme, agenda, participation of member states, logistical arrangements and other administrative requirements related to the high-profile gathering.

Officials briefed Ishaq Dar on the progress made so far and outlined the arrangements being developed to ensure the smooth conduct of the meeting. The deputy prime minister reviewed the preparations in detail and issued guidance on key areas requiring further attention.

During the meeting, Dar highlighted the importance Pakistan attaches to the ECO and its efforts to strengthen regional economic cooperation. He noted that the organization has an important role in promoting trade, improving regional connectivity and creating greater opportunities for economic collaboration among member countries.

The deputy prime minister stressed the need for effective coordination among all relevant departments and institutions to ensure that every aspect of the meeting is properly addressed ahead of the November session.

He directed the concerned authorities to make comprehensive preparations and ensure that the ECO Council of Ministers meeting results in meaningful discussions and practical outcomes.

Dar further emphasized the importance of using the platform to advance Pakistan’s regional economic priorities and strengthen cooperation with other ECO member states.

The ECO brings together countries from the wider region with a focus on promoting economic development, trade, transportation links and closer regional integration. Pakistan has consistently highlighted the organization’s potential to facilitate greater economic connectivity and cooperation among its members.
