Pakistani freelancers’ earnings jump 45% in July

Pakistan’s freelance sector recorded strong growth at the start of the new financial year. Export earnings of Pakistani freelancers rose by 45% in July 2026, according to official data.

Freelancers earned $176 million in foreign exchange during July. The amount was $121 million in July 2025. This means earnings increased by $55 million in one year.

The latest figures also show growth compared with the previous month. Freelancers earned $164 million in June 2026. Their earnings therefore increased by $12 million in July.

The rise comes after a record performance by Pakistani freelancers in the previous financial year. Freelancers earned $1.76 billion in export revenue during fiscal year 2025-26. It was the highest annual amount recorded for the sector.

Official figures show that freelance export earnings increased by 78% during fiscal year 2025-26. The sector had earned $985 million in fiscal year 2024-25.

Freelancers have recorded significant growth over the past few years. Their export earnings stood at $505 million during fiscal year 2023-24. The figure was $364 million in fiscal year 2022-23.

The figures show a sharp expansion in Pakistan’s digital services sector. Freelancers are increasingly providing services to international clients through online platforms. Their earnings are contributing to the country’s foreign exchange reserves.

The continued rise also highlights the growing importance of remote work and online services for Pakistan’s economy. The latest monthly increase indicates that freelance exports have maintained their upward trend into the new financial year.
