The All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) has reported a rise in the country’s overall cement sales during September 2026, indicating improved activity in the construction and industrial sectors.
According to a statement issued by the association, total cement sales in September increased by 5.95 percent, reaching approximately 4.62 million tonnes, compared with the corresponding period of the previous year.
The increase was supported by stronger domestic demand, with local cement sales rising by 7.35 percent during the month. Domestic sales reached approximately 3.788 million tonnes, reflecting higher consumption in the local market.
The figures released by the association provide an indication of activity in Pakistan’s construction sector, where cement demand is closely linked with infrastructure development, housing projects, commercial construction and other development activities.
According to the APCMA, cement exports during September stood at around 832,000 tonnes. The export figures remained an important component of the industry’s overall performance as manufacturers continued to supply cement to international markets.
The association also reported that the cement industry recorded growth during the first quarter of the ongoing financial year. During the July-September period, total cement sales increased by 3.88 percent, reaching approximately 13.1 million tonnes.
The quarterly figures suggest that the industry maintained an overall positive trend despite challenges faced by manufacturers and the broader economy.
Cement is considered an important indicator of economic activity because demand for the commodity generally increases alongside construction, infrastructure development and investment. Higher cement sales can therefore reflect increased activity in both public and private-sector projects.
The rise in domestic sales during September is particularly significant for manufacturers, as the local market remains a major source of demand for Pakistan’s cement industry. Increased construction activity can support related sectors, including transportation, building materials, real estate and labour.
The latest data comes at a time when Pakistan’s construction and manufacturing sectors continue to adjust to changing economic conditions. Cement manufacturers have faced challenges related to production costs, energy prices, transportation expenses and fluctuations in domestic demand.
However, the growth recorded in September indicates that cement consumption remained resilient during the month.
The APCMA’s figures also provide an early indication of the performance of the construction-related economy during the second quarter of the financial year. Continued growth in cement sales could contribute positively to industrial activity if the trend is sustained in the coming months.
Industry performance will also depend on domestic construction demand, government development spending, private-sector investment and export opportunities.
The association’s latest figures show that Pakistan’s cement industry registered growth in both monthly and quarterly sales. With total sales increasing by 5.95 percent in September and first-quarter sales rising by 3.88 percent, the sector has maintained a positive trajectory during the early months of the financial year.
The industry will now be closely watched to determine whether the increase in cement demand continues through the remaining months of the financial year.
