Speaking to media representatives in on Friday, the minister linked current regional developments with the lessons of Ashura, saying the occasion had arrived at a time when the Middle East had witnessed serious tensions and conflict.
Khawaja Asif said the people of Iran had demonstrated resilience and determination during difficult circumstances, drawing parallels with the values of sacrifice, courage, and steadfastness associated with the legacy of and the martyrs of Karbala.
The defence minister emphasized that Pakistan had played a constructive role during the crisis and worked toward reducing tensions. According to him, the country’s diplomatic efforts helped encourage dialogue and understanding between the parties involved, allowing Pakistan to emerge with greater respect on the international stage.
