Petrol hits Rs342.79, diesel falls to Rs370.41

The federal government has revised the prices of petroleum products for the new pricing period. The changes have been announced by the Petroleum Division following a review of fuel prices.

According to the notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the price of petrol has been increased by 77 paisa per litre. The new increase will push the price of petrol to Rs342.79 per litre.

In contrast, the price of high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs1.03 per litre. After the reduction, diesel will be available at Rs370.41 per litre.

The latest adjustment brings a mixed change for consumers. Petrol users will have to pay slightly more for every litre. Diesel consumers, however, will get a small relief following the reduction in the price of diesel.

Petroleum prices are revised after the government reviews changes in international oil prices and other relevant factors. The adjustments can directly affect transport costs and the prices of goods and services across the country.

The new prices will take effect from midnight tonight. Consumers will therefore see the revised petrol and diesel rates at fuel stations after the new pricing period begins.

The increase in petrol prices may add to the financial burden on motorists. Any rise in fuel costs can also have an indirect impact on transportation and daily expenses. Meanwhile, the reduction in diesel prices is expected to provide limited relief to sectors that rely heavily on diesel for transportation and commercial activities.
