Petrol hits Rs367.75, diesel Rs392.67 per litre

Petrol and high-speed diesel prices have been increased again in Pakistan, with the latest notification revising the rates of both petroleum products.

Under the latest revision, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs3.40 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has gone up by Rs6.72 per litre.

Based on the previously notified prices of Rs364.35 per litre for petrol and Rs385.95 for diesel, the latest revision takes the petrol price to Rs367.75 per litre and the diesel price to Rs392.67 per litre.

The latest increase comes after an earlier hike in which petrol had become Rs5.58 per litre more expensive and diesel had risen by Rs4.18 per litre. Following that revision, petrol was priced at Rs364.35 per litre, while diesel stood at Rs385.95 per litre.

The repeated increases have added to concerns among consumers, transporters and businesses, as petroleum prices have a direct impact on transportation and the cost of goods and services.

Petrol is widely used by private motorists, motorcycles and public transport, while diesel is extensively consumed by heavy vehicles, trucks, buses, agricultural machinery and other commercial sectors.

Transport operators are likely to face higher operating expenses following the latest diesel increase. The additional cost could also put pressure on freight rates and the prices of goods transported across the country.

The government periodically reviews petroleum prices in line with changes in international oil prices and other relevant factors. These include the exchange rate, petroleum levy and other applicable taxes and duties.

The latest notification brings the revised rates into effect from the specified date and time mentioned by the Petroleum Division.
