Plea to initiate legal action against Punjab CM for wearing Police Uniform

A recent development in Lahore’s legal sphere has seen the submission of a petition to the Sessions Court, urging the initiation of a case against Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The petitioner, represented by Aftab Bajwa Advocate, highlighted the alleged violation of law by Maryam Nawaz, who purportedly donned the official attire of the Punjab Police during a public appearance.

According to the petition, the act of wearing the police uniform by an individual not affiliated with law enforcement constitutes a breach of regulations, as stipulated by the law.

Despite an initial complaint lodged with the police regarding this matter, no discernible action was taken, prompting the petitioner to seek judicial intervention.

The petition acknowledge the petitioner’s plea for the court to mandate the registration of a case against Maryam Nawaz for her alleged infringement of protocols governing the attire associated with state institutions.

Notably, the controversy stems from Maryam Nawaz’s participation as a distinguished guest at the passing out parade held at Chung Police Training College. During the event, she purportedly inspected the parade while attired in the uniform of the Punjab Police, thereby sparking the legal contention now brought before the Sessions Court in Lahore.
