PM launches ‘Shuhada Package’ to support families of martyred federal government officials

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif unveiled the ‘Shuhada Package’ aimed at providing comprehensive support to the families of federal government officials who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

The package includes financial assistance, housing allowances, and provisions for free education and medical treatment. During a visit to the family of late Customs Inspector Syed Hasnain Ali Tirmizi, who lost his life in a recent firing incident in Dera Ismail Khan, the prime minister personally handed over a cheque under the Shuhada Package and assured the bereaved family of his government’s unwavering commitment to the security of Customs officials dedicated to combating smuggling activities.

Expressing condolences and offering prayers for the departed soul, he emphasized that the package, initially introduced by the Punjab government, has now been extended to cover federal government employees, with the possibility of further revisions based on the country’s financial situation. Under this initiative, families of martyred officials, including sepoy and customs inspector, will receive substantial financial aid and allowances, along with access to education and healthcare facilities.

The prime minister, accompanied by government officials and dignitaries, conveyed heartfelt sympathy to the orphaned children, referring to them as the pride of the nation and their late father as a national hero.

He commended the courage and sacrifice of the martyred Customs inspector, underscoring the vital role in safeguarding the national economy from the scourge of smuggling. Moreover, he reiterated his government’s determination to collaborate with provincial authorities and law enforcement agencies to combat smuggling effectively, emphasizing its significance in ensuring economic stability and prosperity.
