MURIDKE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former municipal chairman Sheikh Shabbir Ahmed was shot dead in an apparent targeted attack in Muridke, Sheikhupura district, on Saturday.
According to police, Sheikh Shabbir was travelling by car towards his home in Lahore after leaving his floor factory located along the GT Road near Muridke. As he was on his way, unidentified assailants allegedly ambushed his vehicle and opened fire.
Police said Sheikh Shabbir sustained multiple bullet wounds and died at the scene. The attackers fled immediately after the shooting.
The deceased’s body was shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Muridke for a post-mortem examination.
Police have launched an investigation and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify and trace the suspects. Further details regarding the motive behind the attack were not immediately available.
