Government's policies during last four months have hurt Pakistan’s economy, Miftah Ismail

Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that politics nowadays are based on retaliation and animosity.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Lashkari Raisani, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, Miftah Ismail and others spoke at a news conference in Quetta about the national conversation titled “Concept of Pakistan.”

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that today’s politics has turned into a game of retaliation and animosity with the concerns of the populace being neglected in favour of verbal abuse. He said that this type of politics is unable to resolve Pakistan’s issues.

According to him, there has to be a non-partisan forum where Pakistan’s concerns may be discussed. He said that no issue in Pakistan has a miracle solution, instead we must address each problem and provide stability for the nation by making painful choices.

Former finance minister Miftah Ismail said that the second instalment of this dialogue will take place in Peshawar. He said that the nation was now dealing with challenging economic circumstances and Pakistan must return $ 21 billion to foreign institutions this year.

He said that inflation was at its highest and government haven’t been able to perform any privatisation in 20 years therefore the moment has come to grant rights to the people.

Miftah Ismail said that the government’s policies during the last four months have hurt the economy.
