PPP registers clean sweep in Thatta and Sujawal

The Pakistan People’s Party went on to register clean sweep in Thatta and Sujawal districts after it all candidates emerged victorious in both the district. As per the provisional results received from district returning officer PPP candidate for NA: 225 Thatta Sadiq Ali Memon who replaced his mother as candidate for this constituency toppled his opponents by securing 1,40,773, while Rasool Bux Jakhro of Pakistan Muslim League (N) stood second and could only muster 28,899 votes.

Haji Ali Hassan Zardari PPP candidate for PS-76 once again won the seat comprising coastal areas of the district with a landslide margin.

Zardari acquired 71,408 votes while TLP candidate Altaf Katch could only receive 4,812 votes. The candidate of Pakistan People’s Party Riaz Hussain Shah Shirazi son of veteran politician Aijaz Shah Shirazi, smoothly crossed the winning line by obtaining 80,744 votes, while JUI-F candidate could only gather 6’595 votes.

People of Sujawal also lived up to the expectations of PPP candidates and voted them wholeheartedly. Maintaining the record of remaining he garnered 1,33,530. His opponent veteran JUI-F leader Muhammad Saleh grabbed 15,114 votes.

Coastal constituency of district PS: 74 once again went to PPP following landslide victory of Muhammad Ali Malkani with a formidable score of 83,600 votes. Independent candidate stood way behind him with 14,103 votes. Shah Hussain Shah Shirazi of PPP also registered remarkable victory with 72,942.

The polling process ended across district peacefully except few incidents of heated arguments reported from Tarr Khowaja, Patel Ismail, Faiz Muhammad Jat and a polling station of Jati town of district Sujawal. Supporters of winning candidates celebrated their victory by taking to steers and dancing on drum-beats in Darro and Mirpurbathoro cities of district Sujawal.
