President Alvi meets senior PML-N ministers for ongoing negotiations

President Dr. Arif Alvi Wednesday met Minister for Law Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar and Minister for Economic Affairs Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at the President’s House for negotiations between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

According to local media news, the meeting agenda was to discuss the country’s political and economic status, as well as legislative issues.

The discussion took place before the president travelled to Lahore to consult with PTI Chairman Imran Khan about the dissolution of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies.

Alvi will stay at the Punjab Governor House on his three-day trip to Lahore. Additionally, he will attend an event at the Pakistan Navy War Complex in Walton.

The media reports added that the president will meet with Chief Minister Punjab Pervez Elahi at the CM House and that they will talk about the current political climate and the dissolution of the assembly.

Earlier, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar also talked about his meeting with Dr. Alvi, who had urged holding talks between the PTI leadership and the PML-N-led coalition government.

He continued by saying that the government has notified the president that conditions-based negotiations will not take place.

Early voting appears to be impractical, and the election will go ahead according to schedule, the finance minister reaffirmed.

Dar and President Alvi met back-to-back to talk about the current political climate in the country, particularly the dissolution of assemblies.

PTI has stated that it will release a schedule on December 20 if the Shehbaz Sharif administration does not announce the date of the general election.
