Pretty Woman is a 1990 Hollywood film that falls into the genres of romance and comedy. Detected by Gary Marshall, it has as its leads Julia Roberts (Vivian) and Richard Gere (Edward).
The film is a fantastic watch. The on-screen chemistry between Vivian and Edward is electrifying. The film is like a modern-day fairy tale. Vivian is a hooker, and Edward is a rich businessman.
When their paths unexpectedly cross, the film takes a twist. It is hardly believable that a good-looking, well-dressed, and financially powerful man would fall for a hooker, Vivian.
As Vivian and Edward spend time together, which is paid employment for Vivian by Edward, they fall in love! Their growing affection for one another forms the emotional core of the story.
Although Vivian agrees to Edwards’ proposal in return for a handsome amount of money, neither of them realises that they’ve stepped into the deep waters of romance.
Edward hurts Vivian with his harsh tongue. Vivian leaves without the money. Edward tries to stop her, but he fails.
Will Edward and Vivian finally unite at the end? Watch the film to find out! I’m sure you have already seen the film. For all fans of Pretty Woman out there, hold your horses because Pretty Woman is going to be out soon on Netflix!
Julia Roberts or Vivian really is a Pretty Woman. From the glamour and glitter of the underground mafia of prostitution, the director changes her outlook completely. With soft makeup and a classy dress sense, Vivian appears to be a beauty that is irresistible. The audience laughs as she tries to learn the manners of aristocracy.
The songs are great. They are catchy and packed with meaning. As one pays attention to the lyrics, it leaves the audience teary-eyed. They complement the story beautifully and remain iconic even today.
The soundtracks Must’ve Been Love and Pretty Woman steal the heart of the audience. The audience cannot help but hum along with the beat!
The film can be compared to the recent Lollywood film Love Di Saun in terms of theme.
In the Lollywood film too, Bilo is a prostitute, and Zarshaan, the hero, falls in love with her.
The reality is hard to accept. The fact that a hooker is likely to meet the love of her life, someone who will not judge her for what she is, comes across as unbelievable. Both films are beyond belief. It seems more like a picture-perfect life where dreams are realised despite having a nil chance of them being fulfilled.
In conclusion, Pretty Woman 1 was a treat to the eyes. It beautifully captures both the culture and fashion sense of the 1990s in a wholesome manner. The cinematography and visuals are great. And despite being old, the film still doesn’t lose its charm and aura. Rated at 7.1/10 on IMDb, the film is worth watching. Watch Pretty Woman 1 before watching the sequel for a complete experience!
If you have recently been through heartbreak and are looking for solace and comfort, I suggest you watch this film. The film sends across the message that nothing is impossible! Life is like a roller coaster ride. You don’t know where it may take you next!
Pretty Woman gives you hope and the resilience to move on. No matter the cards life has dealt you, it is always your choice to forgive, forget and start anew!
