The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has issued a notice against the professor, stating that he allegedly secured the prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Gold Medal and a government position through fraudulent documents.
According to the HEC, the professor’s degrees have now been cancelled following an inquiry. A notification has also been issued for his dismissal from service. Authorities have further decided to recover the salaries and benefits he received during his approximately 30 years of government employment.
The inquiry report identified the professor as Mujahid Umar. It stated that he allegedly arranged for another person to appear in his Intermediate and graduation examinations on his behalf.
The report further alleged that he obtained the Quaid-e-Azam Gold Medal and National Talent Scholarship using forged academic credentials.
According to the findings, Mujahid Umar joined the Education Department in 1996 on the basis of the allegedly fraudulent documents. Over the following three decades, he continued to progress through the government education system and eventually reached the position of assistant professor.
The latest action follows the cancellation of his degrees and the findings of the inquiry into his academic and employment record.
Authorities are now expected to proceed with his dismissal and recovery of the salaries and other benefits received during his service.
