As per Omar Ayub’s Tweet, the reason for his resignation from the position of general secretary is that he wants to focus on his other position as leader of the opposition.
Ayub announced, “I am most grateful to PM Imran Khan sahib for accepting my resignation as Secretary General PTI to focus on my role as Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly of Pakistan.”
The letter of resignation, dated June 22, 2024, was addressed to Imran Khan and PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.
According to Senator Shibli Faraz, who serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, Omar Ayub’s resignation was conveyed to Imran Khan during a meeting held at Adyala Jail.
In his social media statement, Ayub indicated that there would be forthcoming adjustments in PTI’s organizational framework under the guidance of PM Imran Khan.
He extended his appreciation to the PTI community, lawmakers, and members of the Tanzeem for their steadfast commitment and loyalty to the party and its leadership.
