Lahore, June 14, 2026: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore has achieved a major milestone in innovation and entrepreneurship as two of its promising startups, Awaaz Digital Hub and EcoTMI Pvt. Ltd., have successfully secured a combined investment of PKR 115 million.
The achievement was highlighted during the Annual Steering Committee Meeting of the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), UET Lahore, where the remarkable progress of both ventures was formally acknowledged. EcoTMI Pvt. Ltd., a UET Lahore spin-off company, secured an investment of PKR 95 million. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has already been signed, and the company has been formally established, marking a significant step toward translating university research into commercially viable products and services.
Awaaz Digital Hub, meanwhile, secured PKR 20 million in government-backed funding after emerging as a provincial-level winner in a competitive innovation initiative. The project is being supported under the patronage of Punjab Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, and Venture Capital Coordinator Syed Aoun Hussain Shah.
Congratulating the teams behind both startups, UET Lahore Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir said that the achievement reflects the university’s growing capacity to transform research and innovation into practical solutions that address real-world challenges. He described the development as a proud moment for UET Lahore and appreciated the support of the Government of Punjab and other stakeholders in creating opportunities for young innovators and entrepreneurs.
He further noted that the success of these ventures demonstrates the immense potential of university-based research when combined with entrepreneurship, industry linkages, and public-sector support.
