PU opens phase-II undergraduate admissions 2026, issues new guidelines

LAHORE: The University of the Punjab (PU) has formally announced the second phase of its Undergraduate Admissions 2026 and opened its online admission portal for applications against vacant seats. The university has also issued detailed guidelines under which eligible candidates will be considered on a “First Come, First Served” basis, with priority determined through the date and time of challan generation.

According to a notification dated September 7, 2026, issued by Prof. Dr. Mahmood Saleem, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of the Admission Committee, all university departments, principals and campus directors have been directed to process Phase-II applications according to a priority- and time-based mechanism.

Under the new procedure, fresh Phase-II applicants will be arranged chronologically according to their Challan Generation Date and Time recorded in the Student Registration Management system (SRM). Departments will download the applicants’ list every Monday through the “Export Applicants” option and process applications accordingly.

The university has also given preference to candidates who participated in the first phase of admissions but could not secure admission. Such candidates can apply again for the same programmes during Phase-II by visiting the relevant department along with their Phase-I application form. Their applications will receive priority over candidates applying for the first time in Phase-II.

Applicants submitting Phase-II applications online will also be required to visit their respective departments every Monday. After verifying eligibility and checking the application timestamp, the concerned departments will issue fee challans to eligible candidates.

PU has further clarified that candidates who did not appear in any admission test are also eligible to apply during the second phase, subject to the eligibility requirements of their selected programmes.

The Phase-II admission portal will remain open from September 8, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. until September 28, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. The university has stated that applications will be accepted only through its official online admission portal.

Admissions will be offered on a strict “First Come, First Served” basis to candidates who meet the required eligibility criteria for Morning, Evening, Afternoon, Replica and Self-Supporting programmes.

Vacant seats are available in a wide range of academic disciplines, including Sciences, Life Sciences, Business, Media Studies, Social Sciences, Education, Islamic Studies, and Arts and Design. The university’s regional campuses in Gujranwala, Jhelum and Pothohar are also included in the second phase.

For programmes offered by the College of Arts and Design, candidates will still be required to pass a separate Drawing/Aptitude Test, with a minimum requirement of 50 percent marks.

The university has also clarified its hostel policy for Phase-II admissions. Hostel accommodation will not be guaranteed and will not be available to students admitted to Self-Supporting, Evening, Afternoon and Replica programmes.

PU officials have advised prospective students to submit their applications as early as possible because available seats are limited and will be allocated according to eligibility and the relevant application and challan timing.
