Punjab govt dissolves all workers welfare scrutiny committees

According to an official notification obtained by Minute Mirror, the Punjab Workers Welfare Fund has de-notified all District and Regional Scrutiny

LAHORE: The Punjab Government has abolished the existing District and Regional Scrutiny Committees constituted under the Punjab Workers Welfare Fund (PWWF), with the decision taking effect immediately across the province.

According to an official notification obtained by Minute Mirror, the Punjab Workers Welfare Fund has de-notified all District and Regional Scrutiny Committees established under an earlier notification issued in October 2025.

The notification, issued from the PWWF headquarters in Lahore, states that the decision was taken on the directions of the competent authority and supersedes the previous order under which the committees had been constituted.

The order was signed by Anam Ali Khan, Director (Administration), on behalf of the Secretary Labour & Human Resource Department and Chairperson of the Punjab Workers Welfare Fund.

The committees played a role in scrutinising workers’ welfare-related cases at the district and regional levels, including applications concerning scholarships, marriage grants and other forms of financial assistance available under the workers’ welfare system.

The latest decision effectively brings the existing committee structure to an end with immediate effect. However, the notification does not specify whether a replacement mechanism will be introduced or how pending welfare cases will be processed following the dissolution of the committees.

Copies of the order have been circulated among senior labour and welfare officials, including the Director General Labour Welfare Punjab, Commissioner Mines Labour Welfare Punjab, members of the affected committees and senior officials of the PWWF.

The move is being viewed as part of a broader administrative restructuring within the Labour & Human Resource Department. However, the notification itself does not provide specific reasons for the de-notification or outline details of any proposed new mechanism.
