GUJRAT: A new Punjab Police service center has started operations at the University of Gujrat with officials saying the initiative aims to make police-related services more accessible for students and teachers on campus.
The facility was inaugurated by Khurram Shahzad Haider Warriach, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Gujranwala, along with Akhtar Farooq, District Police Officer (DPO) Gujrat, during a ceremony held at the university.
According to a police handout, the event was attended by university administration officials, faculty members and a large number of students. Among those present were Registrar Muhammad Naeem Butt, Syndicate Member Tariq Mahmood Sheikh and Director BIC Dr Umar Warriach.
Police officials said the establishment of the center is part of efforts to reduce inconvenience for students and teachers by bringing multiple police services under one roof. They said the move would save time for applicants and improve access to commonly used police facilities without requiring repeated visits to district offices.
Speaking at the event, RPO Khurram Shahzad Haider Warriach said providing improved facilities to students was a collective responsibility and institutions should work together to create an easier environment for young people.
He said the newly established center would help bridge communication between the police department and the university community while ensuring that various public services remain available in a more organized manner.
Officials said several services would be available at the center including character certificates, general police verification, reporting of lost documents, vehicle clearance, provision of FIR copies, legal guidance and other public facilitation services.
Authorities added that services related to driving documentation would also be available, including learner permits and international driving licenses.
DPO Akhtar Farooq said Gujrat Police was continuing efforts to improve public service delivery and introduce easier methods for citizens to access police facilities.
According to details shared by police officials, four service counters have been established at the center. A separate arrangement has also been made for female students through the deployment of women police staff to facilitate visitors requiring assistance.
The initiative is being viewed as another step toward expanding public service access through educational institutions and reducing procedural difficulties for citizens seeking routine police services.
