Qatar Airways has reached a new milestone in its inflight connectivity rollout. The carrier has become the first airline in the world to operate Starlink-equipped Boeing 787-9 aircraft on international routes.

The airline already runs the world’s first and largest Starlink-configured widebody fleet. It now remains on track to complete the Starlink rollout across its entire Boeing 787 fleet by the end of this year.

This latest achievement builds on two earlier milestones. Qatar Airways previously completed its Starlink deployment across its Boeing 777 fleet in nine months, followed by its Airbus fleet in eight months.

With Starlink-equipped aircraft now expanding across its network, the airline is aiming to give passengers a smoother way to stay connected while travelling. The goal is to let flyers work, stream or stay in touch with loved ones without losing connectivity mid-flight.

Qatar Airways said the broader push behind Starlink Wi-Fi is to make journeys more seamless across its global route network. The airline is working to extend that connectivity to flights across the Americas, Australasia, and key gateways spanning Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

The rollout also reflects Qatar Airways’ broader effort to stay ahead on innovation within the competitive airline industry. The carrier says it remains focused on improving the passenger experience as connectivity demands continue to grow.

With the Boeing 787 fleet nearing full Starlink coverage, Qatar Airways appears to be positioning itself among the leading global carriers offering high-speed, satellite-based inflight internet across its entire network.
