Indian actor Ravi Dubey has called for swift action against those responsible for firing at fellow actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai, while expressing concern for Shroff’s injured driver.
Dubey, who lives in the same neighbourhood as Shroff, spoke to India Today on Monday, October 19. He said he was relieved that Shroff had escaped serious injury but was concerned about the driver.
“It is shocking. I believe Tiger is okay, and that’s very heartening. But I do understand that the driver is injured. I hope he gets better really soon,” Dubey told the news outlet.
“What is extremely important is to hold those responsible accountable immediately,” he added.
Dubey said people were waiting for the suspects to be caught and for the investigation to reach a conclusion.
Shroff’s car came under fire in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening, October 18, as he was returning after playing football, according to media reports.
Police said unidentified men arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire at the actor’s BMW. Shroff escaped without gunshot injuries, while his driver and another person were injured. The driver was taken to Nanavati Hospital with an injury to his left hand and was reported to be out of danger.
Mumbai Police launched an investigation and formed teams to trace those involved. By Monday, two men had been arrested and a juvenile detained in Rajasthan in connection with the shooting, according to media reports.
A social media post attributed to people linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the shooting. Police had not publicly confirmed the authenticity of the claim, and the alleged gang connection remained under investigation.
