Adviser to the Federal Ministry of Finance Khurram Shahzad has said that significant progress has been made in housing finance under the government’s Apna Ghar Programme, with financing worth Rs351.3 billion approved so far.
In a statement, the finance ministry adviser said the programme had gained momentum as thousands of applications for affordable housing were processed and approved. He said a total of 60,349 cases had been approved under the initiative to facilitate families seeking affordable homes.
According to Khurram Shahzad, loans amounting to Rs51.13 billion have so far been disbursed under the Apna Ghar Programme. He said 9,717 families had already received housing loans, enabling them to move forward with plans to build or purchase homes.
The adviser said the approval rate under the housing finance programme had reached 38.5 percent, reflecting continued progress in expanding access to housing finance for eligible families.
He added that the average loan size under the Apna Ghar Programme currently stood at Rs5.26 million. Housing finance approvals also increased by more than 12 percent in a single week, indicating growing participation in the government-backed initiative.
Khurram Shahzad said the programme was designed to make housing finance more accessible to eligible families by providing loans on a larger scale. Under the initiative, qualifying families can receive housing finance of up to Rs10 million.
The adviser said the government was focusing on expanding affordable housing opportunities and improving access to financing for families that may otherwise struggle to arrange funds for home construction or purchase.
The latest figures indicate that the Apna Ghar Programme is witnessing a steady increase in both approvals and loan disbursements, with the government continuing efforts to broaden the reach of housing finance among eligible households.
