The order was issued by District Magistrate Diamer, Lieutenant (Retired) Muhammad Awais. It came into effect from June 5.

Officials said the move is aimed at maintaining law and order during the election period. The situation has been described as sensitive.

Under the restrictions, carrying and display of all types of weapons has been banned. Aerial firing has also been prohibited.

The use of fireworks and crackers is not allowed. Authorities said these activities could disturb public peace.

The administration has also banned drones, quadcopters, and other unmanned aerial vehicles. Officials said these devices pose security risks to sensitive areas and government installations.

Law enforcement agencies and individuals with written permission from the administration are exempted from the ban.

The notification warned that violation of Section 144 will lead to strict legal action. Citizens have been urged to follow the orders in full.

Officials said unauthorized use of drones, weapons, or fireworks could threaten public safety. It may also cause damage to property and create fire hazards.

The district administration has appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies.

The Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections are scheduled for June 7. The assembly completed its term in November 2025.

Polling was delayed earlier due to severe weather conditions in the region. The new date was set as the most suitable window before the start of the Muharram period.

Authorities say security arrangements have been strengthened to ensure peaceful elections across the district.
