Pakistan’s security forces killed 29 militants during a series of intelligence-based operations along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border following the recent wave of terrorist attacks in the country.
On June 28, security personnel carried out a targeted operation in Bajaur, where they killed a militant commander identified as Khan Farosh, also known as Zabal, along with three other militants. According to official sources, the group belonged to Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, which Pakistan considers an India-backed proxy militant organization.
Security forces also launched separate operations in the border regions of Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar. During these actions, they eliminated 25 more militants and destroyed several militant hideouts. The forces recovered and destroyed a large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives stored at these locations, dealing a significant blow to the group’s operational capabilities.
These operations form part of Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, Pakistan’s ongoing nationwide campaign against terrorism and militant networks, including those referred to by the government as Fitna al-Khawarij. Security officials stated that the campaign will continue until terrorist groups lose their ability to carry out attacks inside Pakistan. They also reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling militant infrastructure and preventing cross-border infiltration and external support for terrorist activities.
