KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed the Anti-Terrorism Court to expedite the trial of the Mustafa Amir murder case, expressing dissatisfaction over the reasons cited for delays in the proceedings.

The order came during the hearing of a petition challenging alleged attempts to prolong the trial. The trial court submitted a report to the high court, stating that accused Armaghan and his lawyer, Khurram Abbas, were responsible for the delays.

The high court termed the explanations for the prolonged proceedings unsatisfactory and instructed the Anti-Terrorism Court to complete the trial at the earliest. The court also issued notices to accused Armaghan and Shiraz, seeking their responses by September 23.

During the hearing, the lawyer argued that the accused had been delaying the proceedings by raising various excuses, prompting the high court to call for faster progress in the case.
