Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is going to attend Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, in Uzbekistan on September 15 and 16, has no plans to meet his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi.

According to Foreign Office spokesman Asim Iftikhar, “No meeting is envisaged with the Indian prime minister.”

Prime Minister Sharif would attend the 22nd Annual Meeting of the Council of Heads of State (CHS) of the SCO, according to a statement from the foreign office.

A representative told local media that although a quick meeting out of courtesy between the parties was feasible, no conversations would be taking place and that neither party had requested a meeting.

The premier will attend the CHS meeting at President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s invitation.

The summit would be attended by the heads of SCO organizations, SCO members, and observer state leaders, as well as other distinguished guests.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will also hold bilateral meetings with other leaders on the sidelines of the Council of Heads of State.
