Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi reunite for action film

Sunny Deol and filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi are set to collaborate once again on a new action film, marking another reunion between the actor-director duo known for several memorable films from the 1990s. Their upcoming project, titled Ghatak Ghus Ke Maarega, is expected to feature intense action, powerful dialogues and emotional elements.

Santoshi recently revealed that he is developing the film with Sunny Deol and clarified that despite its title, the upcoming project will not be a sequel to their popular 1996 action drama Ghatak. The filmmaker explained that while Deol will return as the same character he portrayed in the original film, the new movie will tell a completely different story.

In Ghatak, Sunny Deol played Kashi, a strong-willed man who takes a stand against a ruthless gangster while fighting to protect the people in his community. The film became one of the actor’s most recognised action movies and earned a strong following among his fans.

Santoshi said that the new project is being developed as a full-fledged action entertainer. The filmmaker and Deol have reportedly been discussing several story ideas before deciding to move forward with this concept. The movie is expected to combine large-scale action sequences with emotional moments and impactful dialogues, elements that have traditionally been associated with Deol’s screen image.

The director believes the project will particularly appeal to Sunny Deol’s loyal fan base. Deol has continued to enjoy strong popularity among audiences, especially following the success of his recent action projects. His powerful dialogue delivery and action-oriented roles have remained an important part of his appeal over the years.

The upcoming film will also mark another chapter in Santoshi and Deol’s long professional association. The two have previously worked together on several successful and critically appreciated projects, including Ghayal, Damini and Ghatak. Their collaboration has produced some of Deol’s most memorable performances, making their latest reunion a highly anticipated development for fans of both the actor and filmmaker.

Santoshi and Deol most recently worked together on Batwara 1947, which brought the pair back together after a considerable gap. Their return to the action genre with Ghatak Ghus Ke Maarega is expected to offer audiences another intense entertainer featuring Deol in a familiar yet newly developed character.

Santoshi has also clarified that he will not be directing Jaat 2. The sequel follows the 2025 action film Jaat, which starred Sunny Deol in the lead role and was directed by Gopichand Malineni. Santoshi explained that he decided against taking up the sequel because he does not generally believe in making follow-up films.

Apart from his collaboration with Deol, Santoshi is also working on another project titled Ada Apni Apni. The upcoming film has attracted attention because of its title, which naturally reminds audiences of Santoshi’s much-loved 1994 comedy Andaz Apna Apna, starring Aamir Khan and Salman Khan.

However, Santoshi has made it clear that Ada Apni Apni will not be a sequel to Andaz Apna Apna. According to the filmmaker, the upcoming movie will feature an entirely different story while retaining a similar combination of comedy and adventure.

The casting for Ada Apni Apni has not yet been officially announced. Santoshi is expected to reveal details about the cast and other aspects of the project at a later stage.

With Ghatak Ghus Ke Maarega, Santoshi and Sunny Deol are preparing to revisit the action genre that helped establish their successful partnership. While the new film will not continue the original Ghatak storyline, the return of Deol’s character under Santoshi’s direction is likely to generate considerable interest among Bollywood audiences.
