Supreme Court directs removal of barricades outside government and private buildings in Karachi

The Supreme Court of Pakistan issued directives for the removal of barricades placed outside government and private buildings in a ruling on Thursday, including the Rangers Headquarters, in Karachi.

The court emphasized the immediate removal of barricades from key locations such as the Governor’s House and CM House, while urging authorities to provide a detailed report within three days.

During the hearing, Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa underscored the illegality of obstructing passages and erecting barricades, stating, “The federal and provincial government itself is erecting encroachments.”

Furthermore, the CJP instructed authorities to compensate allottees by selling the land of Nasla Tower, emphasizing the submission of a comprehensive report on the market value.

Additionally, the court mandated the disbursement of compensation to the affected individuals of Tejori Heights, underscoring the importance of addressing the grievances of those impacted by such measures.
