Trump discusses Ukraine war with Putin, plans $500m deal

US President Donald Trump is reported to have said that he had held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the Ukraine war. The president did not specify the date he had the telephone conversation.

When asked how many times he has spoken to President Putin, the US President chose not to comment on it. He told the New York Post that President Putin wishes to stop the killings on the battleground. The US President said that he has a plan to put an end to the war and hoped that sooner rather than later, it is going to be done.

Reuters news agency quoted the group as saying they had contacted US and Russian officials to get confirmation of the information.

However, no response has been received from any side so far. Reuters has quoted that late last month Moscow said that Vladimir Putin was prepared for a telephone call with the US President and was waiting for a response from the United States.

During the interview, apparently referring to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Putin, Donald Trump said, “They want to meet.”

The US President indicated that he would like to sign a deal of $500 million with the President of Ukraine. According to him, that agreement would ensure Ukraine’s security in exchange for granting easy access to its gas and precious metal reserves.

US Vice President JD Vince and the Ukrainian President are set to meet during the Munich Security Conference, happening from February 14 to February 16.
