UEFA Champions League quarterfinal 2nd leg to kick off with 2 matches

The UEFA Champions League quarterfinal return legs commence on Tuesday with two matches as Paris Saint-Germain squares off against Barcelona and Dortmund faces Atletico de Madrid.

In the initial leg, Raphinha netted twice as Barcelona secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Paris Saint-Germain at Parc des Princes.

The two sides will clash at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, Barcelona’s home turf, which can accommodate up to 60,000 spectators.

Romania’s Istvan Kovacs will officiate the match, scheduled to kick off at 1900GMT.

During a press conference, Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique mentioned Barcelona’s potential to utilize long balls to Lewandowski to apply pressure on Paris.

“We fall, we get back up. That’s the essence of top-level sports. An athlete must embrace that. It’s challenging, but it’s part of the game. After two days, the players showed good progress in training,” he added.

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernández emphasized that the PSG match hinges on the players’ performance rather than the coaches.

“Let’s hope they are inspired because the outcome depends on them. Montjuic needs to be electric; we need the support of our fans. There will be tough moments, times when Paris will test us,” he said.

In another Tuesday fixture, Atletico Madrid will journey to Borussia Dortmund with a 2-1 aggregate lead in the tie.

The match will commence at 1900GMT at VB Stadion Dortmund.

The 2023-24 final is slated to take place at London’s Wembley Stadium on June 1.

Renowned as the Home of Football, Wembley has hosted seven previous European Cup finals, more than any other stadium.
