Vegetable and fruit prices rise by up to Rs150 per kg

A significant increase in the prices of vegetables and fruits has been recorded in Lahore. According to shopkeepers, the prices of vegetables and fruits have increased by Rs100 to Rs150 per kilogram over the past two weeks.

Meanwhile, the prices of fruit boxes have increased by Rs1,000 to Rs2,000. Shopkeepers said that the price of pumpkin has increased from Rs150 to Rs200 per kilogram, cauliflower from Rs150 to Rs220, cabbage from Rs150 to Rs250 and fenugreek from Rs300 to Rs400 per kilogram.

Similarly, the price of capsicum has risen from Rs300 to Rs350 per kilogram, onions from Rs120 to Rs200 and tomatoes from Rs200 to Rs250 per kilogram. Regarding fruit prices, shopkeepers said that a 6-kilogram carton of peaches now costs Rs950.

A box of apples has increased from Rs2,000 to Rs3,000, a box of mangoes from Rs3,000 to Rs5,000 and a box of grapes from Rs4,500 to Rs5,000. Shopkeepers further said that vegetables and fruits are already being sold at higher prices in the wholesale market which has led to the increase in retail prices.
