WAPDA Chairman extends support to Chinese workers at Dasu Project after terrorist attack

WAPDA Chairman Sajjad Ghani visited the Dasu Hydropower Project on Wednesday to express support for the Chinese engineers and workers stationed there, in a show of solidarity following the tragic terrorist attack near Besham in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The attack, which resulted in the loss of five Chinese nationals and a local individual traveling to the project site from Islamabad, prompted Chairman Ghani’s visit, aimed at conveying condolences and reinforcing security measures.

Accompanied by China’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, Chairman Ghani interacted with the Chinese workforce at the project site, extending heartfelt condolences on behalf of WAPDA for the lives lost in the tragic incident. Emphasizing solidarity with the bereaved families, he assured robust efforts by law enforcement agencies to swiftly investigate the attack and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Additionally, he pledged WAPDA’s commitment to enhancing security measures in collaboration with relevant authorities to prevent such incidents in the future.

Chairman Ghani commended the significant contributions of Chinese firms, particularly in executing water and hydropower projects crucial for Pakistan’s development.

Highlighting the pivotal role of Chinese companies in projects like Dasu, aimed at providing essential water resources and affordable energy, he underscored the unwavering partnership between Pakistan and China in advancing economic stability and social progress.

Amidst adversity, Chairman Ghani expressed confidence in the resilience of the Pak-China friendship, affirming that cowardly attacks by adversaries would not undermine the mutual cooperation vital for Pakistan’s stability and prosperity.
