Social media platform X is introducing a new payment system for content creators around the world with a focus on rewarding original work.
The platform says the new system is designed to discourage copied stolen and low quality content while giving creators who produce original material a better chance to earn money.
According to a notification sent to creators X will call the new system the Original Content Rewards Program.
X said its current Ads Revenue Sharing Program will officially end on September 7 2026. Applications for the new Original Content Rewards Program will open from September 8, 2026.
The company has also explained that users who have already completed identity verification and linked a payment method will not need to repeat those steps.
Eligible creators will be able to check their status through Creator Studio at any time. The new program comes as X tries to improve the quality of content being shared on the platform.
Since monetization became available in Pakistan and several other countries the platform has seen a large increase in copied and reused material.
Many accounts began posting large numbers of videos pictures and posts in an effort to increase their earnings.
Some users also started taking short clips from live television broadcasts and uploading them to X soon after they appeared on TV.
This has raised concerns about the spread of content that creators did not produce themselves. Repeatedly sharing the same videos or using someone else’s work can make it difficult for original creators to receive proper credit or financial rewards. With the new program X appears to be moving toward a system that places greater importance on original and valuable content.
The company wants creators to focus on producing their own videos, posts ideas and other material instead of simply reposting content from other sources.
For creators the new system could change the way they plan and publish content on X. Users who rely heavily on copied videos or recycled posts may find it harder to earn money under the new rules.
On the other hand creators who regularly produce their own content could have a stronger opportunity to benefit from their work. The move also reflects a wider challenge faced by social media platforms. As more websites introduce ways for creators to earn money some users create large amounts of low quality or copied content simply to increase views and income.
By introducing the Original Content Rewards Program X is signaling that it wants to encourage quality over quantity.
Creators are expected to check their eligibility through Creator Studio and review the new program’s requirements before applying. The success of the new system will depend on how effectively X can identify original content and prevent copied material from receiving rewards.
