Zardari felicitates Kyrgyz president on Independence Day

President Asif Ali Zardari has extended warm greetings to Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov and the people of Kyrgyzstan on the country’s Independence Day.

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has extended warm greetings to Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov and the people of Kyrgyzstan on the country’s Independence Day.

In his message, President Zardari said Pakistan attaches great importance to its close and friendly relations with Kyrgyzstan. He said the bilateral ties were rooted in shared history, cultural links, mutual trust and growing cooperation.

The president recalled his visit to Kyrgyzstan in July this year, saying it brought back memories of his earlier visit to the country in 1995. He said the latest visit also provided an opportunity to further strengthen relations between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan.

He said discussions held during the two visits had reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

President Zardari expressed his desire to continue working closely with his Kyrgyz counterpart to deepen bilateral cooperation and strengthen ties for the mutual benefit of the two countries and their peoples.

Moreover, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has left for Bishkek on a three-day official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic at the invitation of the President Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Zhaparov.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will participate in the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Council of Heads of State and the SCO Plus Summit, besides assuming Pakistan’s Chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State for next year.

On the sidelines of the SCO engagements, he will hold bilateral meetings with leaders of participating countries and also attend the opening ceremony of the World Nomad Games being held in Bishkek today.
