Twenty-one internationally renowned former cricket captains have written another letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz

Twenty-one internationally renowned former cricket captains have written another letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, reiterating their appeal for former Pakistan captain and PTI founder Imran Khan to receive appropriate medical treatment.

In the letter, the cricket personalities expressed concern over recent developments concerning Khan’s medical care, saying they do not appear to be in line with the directions issued by Pakistan’s Supreme Court.

The signatories recalled that the Supreme Court had directed that Imran Khan be transferred to a hospital so that he could undergo a medical examination by a specialised medical board. The proposed board was to include Khan’s personal doctors as well as his sister, Dr Uzma Khan.

According to the letter, the court had also ordered the restoration of weekly meetings between Imran Khan and his family members.

The former cricket captains renewed their call for the authorities to ensure that the former Pakistan captain receives proper medical attention and that the court’s directions regarding his treatment are implemented.

The letter was signed by several prominent figures from international cricket, including Michael Atherton, Alex Blackwell, Allan Border, Mike Brearley, Greg Chappell, Ian Chappell, Belinda Clark, Alastair Cook, Mike Gatting, Sunil Gavaskar, Leah Germain, Adam Gilchrist, David Gower, Kim Hughes, Nasser Hussain, Clive Lloyd, Kapil Dev, Arjuna Ranatunga, Andrew Strauss, Dilip Vengsarkar, Steve Waugh and John Wright.

Many of the signatories are former captains who represented leading cricket nations and have played prominent roles in the sport over several decades.

The renewed appeal comes amid continued attention to Imran Khan’s health and medical treatment while he remains in custody. The cricket legends have urged the Pakistani authorities to ensure that the former international cricket star receives medical care in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directions.
