LAHORE: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Lahore has arrested two men allegedly operating a website under the name “Mini NADRA” and recovered around three terabytes of sensitive and personal data from their possession.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Muhammad Arsalan and Ali Raza. According to investigators, the suspects had illegally obtained and allegedly traded personal information belonging to more than 10 million citizens.
During the operation, officials also seized two mobile phones from the suspects. Initial investigations revealed that the recovered digital material contained a substantial amount of sensitive information, including SIM ownership and registration records, call detail records (CDRs), SIM databases, users’ location information, family-tree data and other information linked to government institutions.
The operation was carried out on the special directives of NCCIA Punjab Director Hissam Bin Iqbal. Officials said the suspects were allegedly involved not only in the unauthorized acquisition and sale of sensitive data but also in accessing a platform known as “Khoji.”
Investigators further discovered that the suspects had established a website using the name “Mini NADRA,” through which information associated with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) was allegedly made available.
The three-terabyte data recovered during the raid has now become a key part of the investigation. Digital devices and other electronic material seized from the suspects are undergoing forensic examination to determine how the information was obtained, stored and allegedly distributed, while authorities are also attempting to identify other individuals involved in the alleged data-trading network.
A case has been registered against both suspects, and further investigation is underway. The inquiry is being conducted by NCCIA Lahore SHO and Sub-Inspector Najam Ashraf Bajwa.
