Speaking to the media a day before the third Test against England at Lord’s Cricket Ground, Babar addressed questions about the recent changes within the national team setup.

Asked about the team combination for the third Test Babar said the management had almost finalized its plans. He added that Pakistan would select the best possible combination according to the playing conditions.

Responding to a question about the possibility of seven players being dropped from the squad after the Lord’s Test Babar said the PCB would have made the decision after considering the situation carefully. He added that PCB officials would be in a better position to explain the decision in detail.

Babar also reflected on Pakistan’s 194-run defeat in the Lord’s Test. He acknowledged that the team had failed to produce an impressive performance in any department during the match.

“We accept that we did not perform well at Lord’s” Babar said while speaking during the press conference.

Pakistan have already lost the three-match Test series after suffering defeats in the opening two matches. However, Babar said the team was determined to end the series on a positive note.

He said that although Pakistan had lost the series the players wanted to finish strongly and play positive cricket in the final Test.

Speaking about the new players included in the national squad Babar said there was no need for them to feel pressure. Instead he described their selection as a great opportunity for the players to prove themselves at the international level.

The Pakistan captain said the team would aim to make the most of the conditions at Edgbaston and field the strongest possible combination for the match.

Pakistan now face England in the third and final Test at Edgbaston with the visitors looking to avoid a series whitewash after losing the first two matches.

Babar’s comments come as Pakistan look to regroup following their disappointing performance at Lord’s and finish the series with a much-improved display.
