73% of Gen Z voters back Democrats

Generation Z voters played a significant role in giving the Democratic Party an advantage in the US midterm elections, according to an American television network’s exit poll.

The survey findings showed a strong preference for Democratic candidates among younger voters, with 73 per cent of Generation Z voters casting their ballots for Democrats, compared with just 25 per cent who supported Republican candidates.

The results highlighted a considerable difference in voting preferences between younger and older generations, with younger Americans showing stronger support for the Democratic Party.

Among Millennials, aged 30 to 45, approximately 60 per cent voted for Democratic candidates, while 36 per cent supported Republicans. The figures indicated that Democrats also received a larger share of votes from this age group.

Meanwhile, voters belonging to Generation X, aged 46 to 61, showed a narrower divide in their political preferences. According to the survey, 52 per cent of Gen X voters supported Democrats, while 47 per cent voted for Republicans.

The findings point to generational differences in voting patterns, with Democratic candidates receiving a larger share of support among younger voters than among older age groups.

Generation Z recorded the highest level of support for Democrats among the three generations included in the survey, followed by Millennials and Generation X.
