Polling for the first phase was held in the Mirpur division on Monday as part of a three-phase election process. The elections are being conducted in phases due to security concerns across the region.

According to unofficial results compiled through Form-27, the PML-N emerged victorious in nine constituencies, while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) managed to secure four seats. Form-27 includes combined results based on votes counted on polling day and advance voting conducted by election staff.

The election campaign between the two major political parties remained intense in the days leading up to polling. However, the voting process was affected by allegations of irregularities, with both the PML-N and PPP accusing each other of electoral violations. Reports of clashes and tensions were also recorded during polling.

In terms of constituency-wise results, the PML-N won several key areas across the Mirpur division. The party secured victories in Dadyal and Khari Sharif constituencies of Mirpur district, Barnala, Samahni, and Bhimber constituencies of Bhimber district, as well as Nakyal, Sehnsa, Charhoi, and Khuiratta constituencies of Kotli district.

Meanwhile, the PPP managed to retain important areas, including the main city of Mirpur. The party also won the Chakswari constituency in Mirpur district and two seats in Kotli.

In LA-1 (Mirpur-I), PML-N candidate Azhar Sadiq won the seat after receiving 15,427 votes, defeating his rival Muhammad Afzal Shahid, who secured 9,832 votes.

The PPP secured victory in LA-2 (Mirpur-II), where its candidate Qasim Majeed received 13,378 votes to claim the constituency.

A closely contested battle took place in LA-3 (Mirpur-III), where PPP candidate Yasir Sultan emerged victorious with 12,590 votes, narrowly defeating his opponent, who received 11,081 votes.

The preliminary results indicate a strong performance by the PML-N in the opening phase of the AJK elections. However, final results will determine the complete political picture once all phases of polling are concluded.

The remaining phases of the AJK elections will continue according to the schedule set by the Election Commission, with political parties closely watching the outcome to assess their position in the regional assembly.
