American dream – deception of the century

America, the land of freedom, democracy and growing capitalism was once regarded as the fight against communism, the fight against deadly dictators. It was where the oppressed could migrate and live independently, get a job, start a business. For decades it seemed very likely to be true. Hopeful immigrants from all over Asia and Europe came, seeking economic liberalism and social liberty.

In full awareness of the fact that this freedom was built upon the blood of an estimated 200 million Native Americans, African slavery and Mexican farmers, these immigrants came escaping one brutality to live in another. Capitalism which was supposed to create opportunities resulted in the biggest income and social inequality, even more than at the time of the French Revolution.

In the land of the free, it is the white caucasian race that is free. In America if you are a person of color, you have no rights. Abraham Linclon was triumphant in abolishing slavery, but he was not victorious in bringing hatred against the colored immigrants to an end. For centuries they were discriminated against in all fields of life. It is rather hypocritical to assume that an immigrant who didn’t know the language and customs can easily “steal” jobs from the white people. The police brutality was noticeable towards the African American community. As of now during the Trump administration, non-white immigrants are being deported, families are getting separated with no mercy involved.

Elon Musk, often sarcastically referred to as an illegal immigrant himself, recently became the world’s first trillionaire following his company SpaceX going public. While the American government cuts healthcare and education funding, these white millionaires become billionaires. While the taxes are raised and the working class survives pay check to pay check, these billionaires receive all the benefits. This is the real face of capitalism which was overlooked during the war against communism.

Following the Gaza war and the rise of social media, Generation Z all around the world are slowly realizing how their elders fell for this fabricated idea. They are frustrated over their tax payments being sent as aid to Israel while their living conditions deteriorate. Their negative vocality online has increased drastically. In 2026, the biggest protest in the history of the United States ‘No Kings’ occurred against the policies of the Trump administration, growing inequality as well as the inhumane tactics of Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Apart from US citizens themselves being exploited under the current republican regime, the global leaders can also be seen distancing themselves from the USA. Countries like Spain, Hungary, China have shown their dissatisfaction with the engagement of the US in world affairs. Iraq, Afghanistan , Vietnam are all examples of how the US funded the militant groups for their benefit and abandoned them only to consider them as a threat later on and start a war which affected millions of unarmed and innocent citizens.

The life that was promised to them in this free land was built on the blood of millions. The taxes of Americans are not being used to give them a more desirable life. The average student in the US is drowning in student debt. Legal immigrants are getting arrested and prosecuted just because they are not white as well as green cards are getting denied. Many people are unaware that keeping people poor is a business which these capitalist billionaires thrive upon. No billionaire worked hard, they all were born with a silver spoon which they try really hard to change the narrative of. Nevertheless, there is no denying that no one can live illegally on a stolen land.
