Ammy Virk breaks silence on Canada shooting

Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk has broken his silence over reports suggesting that his convoy came under fire in Canada, saying he was not involved in the incident and is safe.

The reports emerged after a shooting was reported in Abbotsford, British Columbia, on September 5. The Abbotsford Police Department later clarified that the incident was not connected to Virk.

Addressing the rumours, Ammy took to Instagram and urged his fans not to believe unverified information circulating online. He reassured followers that he was safe and had no involvement in the reported shooting.

Police said officers responded to the 2500 block of McCallum Road after receiving reports of gunfire. They confirmed that a shooting had taken place but said no one was injured.

Authorities also responded shortly afterwards to a separate report of a vehicle fire in the 2400 block of Sunnyside Place. Officers found an SUV completely engulfed in flames.

The police department’s Major Crime Unit has taken charge of the investigation. Investigators are working to establish the motive behind the shooting and determine whether the vehicle fire was connected to the earlier incident.

Ammy’s father, Kuljit Singh, also rejected reports that his son had been targeted. He confirmed that Ammy and other family members were safe and said no shots had been fired at the singer.

According to his father, the shooting was reportedly directed at a convoy associated with organisers of the event rather than Ammy himself.

The conflicting reports had sparked concern among the singer’s fans, particularly on social media, where claims about the alleged attack quickly circulated.

Police have yet to establish a confirmed link between the shooting and the vehicle fire. The investigation into both incidents remains underway.
