Beneficiaries of the Punjab government’s ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ housing programme in Vehari have raised concerns over delays in receiving approved loan instalments.

Several applicants said they had completed the required procedures and received approval for loans of up to Rs1.5 million to build their homes. However, they claimed that the first instalment had not been released despite months of waiting.

The applicants said they applied online for the housing loans under the scheme launched by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Their applications were reportedly approved after the initial processing and were later sent to organisations including Akhuwat and NRSP for further verification.

According to the applicants, representatives of the organisations visited their plots and completed physical verification. They were also asked to provide two guarantee cheques of Rs1.5 million each as part of the processing requirements.

The beneficiaries said their plots were subsequently pledged against the approved loans. They were also asked to open bank accounts at the Bank of Punjab’s Vehari branch.

Despite completing these formalities, the applicants claimed they were still waiting for the first payment.

They said applications approved between January and June 30, 2026, had yet to receive the initial instalment. The delay, they said, was preventing them from starting construction work on their houses.

The applicants appealed to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to take notice of the issue and direct the relevant authorities to release the approved funds without further delay.

Representatives of Akhuwat and NRSP, when contacted, said their organisations had completed the verification process. They confirmed that the applicants’ plots had been pledged and the required guarantee cheques had been obtained before the loans were approved.

The representatives said the delay was not related to the verification process. They explained that the approved loans would be disbursed once the Punjab government transfers the required funds into the beneficiaries’ accounts.
