Arif Saeed elected to ISSA Executive Board for 2026-2029 term

According to the Pakistan Olympic Association, Saeed was elected as the Regional Representative for Asia and Europe during the 15th ISSA General Assembly held in Taif, Saudi Arabia.

The Islamic Solidarity Sports Association brings together 57 member National Olympic Committees from across the Islamic world. Saeed’s election gives Pakistan a stronger presence in the organization’s decision-making structure and international sports governance.

The Pakistan Olympic Association welcomed the development and highlighted Saeed’s experience in corporate leadership, sports administration and youth development. The association said these areas of experience would help him contribute effectively to his new responsibilities on the ISSA Executive Board.

Saeed’s new position is also expected to create opportunities for greater cooperation among Olympic committees across the ISSA membership. His role could support initiatives focused on athlete development, athlete welfare and the broader promotion of sport.

The position is particularly significant for Pakistan as the country seeks to strengthen its role in international sports organisations and expand cooperation with sporting bodies across Asia and other regions.

As Regional Representative for Asia and Europe, Saeed will have an opportunity to contribute to discussions concerning sports development and collaboration among member National Olympic Committees.

The POA said his election could provide a platform to promote athlete development and welfare while encouraging stronger links between Olympic committees. It is also expected to support efforts aimed at expanding sporting opportunities across the ISSA membership.

Arif Saeed already holds another important regional sports leadership position. He also serves as President of the South Asian Olympic Council, giving him experience in representing sporting interests at the regional level.

His election to the ISSA Executive Board adds to his portfolio another international responsibility and further improves Pakistan’s representation in global and regional sports governance.

Saeed is expected to use the 2026-2029 term to help guide policy conversations, strengthen global sport partnerships and advocate for athlete-focused action through the ISSA.
