PML-N gears up for Punjab local polls

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to begin preparations for the upcoming local government elections in Punjab, directing party officials across the province to step up political and public outreach activities.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the PML-N Punjab, chaired by Punjab chapter President Rana Sanaullah. During the meeting, party office-bearers were instructed to start preparations for the local government polls and intensify contact with voters at the grassroots level.

According to a party statement, the leadership directed officials to launch an extensive campaign across all divisions, districts, tehsils and union councils of Punjab. Party leaders and workers have also been asked to strengthen their engagement with the public and increase political activities in their respective areas.

The meeting also discussed the selection of candidates for the local government elections. A proposal was put forward to give preference to loyal and committed party workers who stood by the PML-N during difficult times.

The party leadership further decided that a comprehensive roadmap for the local government election preparations would be prepared and submitted to the senior leadership for approval. The proposed plan is expected to outline the party’s campaign strategy and preparations at different administrative levels across the province.

The meeting also discussed the issue of creating new provinces in the country. Participants maintained that the matter should be debated and decided through Parliament, stressing that any discussion on the creation of new provinces should take place through the constitutional and parliamentary process.

The PML-N Punjab also made changes to its organisational structure during the meeting. Chaudhry Javed Boota and Mohsin Ranjha were appointed as vice presidents of the party’s Punjab chapter.

The latest developments indicate that the PML-N is seeking to strengthen its grassroots organisation in Punjab ahead of the local government elections while expanding public outreach and preparing its organisational machinery for the electoral process.
